In March 2018, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 37/42, requesting that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) prepare a report, in consultation with civil society and other relevant stakeholders, on the implementation of the joint commitment to effectively addressing and countering the world drug problem with regards to human rights, and to present it to the Human Rights Council at its thirty-ninth session, and also requests the Office of the High Commissioner to share the report with the Commision on Narcotic Drugs (CND). In response to a call from the OHCHR for submissions from NGOs, Fair Trials submitted information on the global growth of trial waiver systems and its impact on human rights in the context of the human rights commitments contained in the UNGASS 2016 outcome document.
